Foundation Piers

The two types of piers we use to stabilize settling foundations in Omaha are push piers and helical piers. Depending on your type of Omaha home, our team will recommend one of these solutions to fix your foundation. Both solutions serve the same purpose: to support the weight of your home and prevent future damage and settlement.

Push piers are inserted a few feet at a time using a hydraulic press until they reach bedrock below your home. Once set in place, some of the weight of your home is offloaded from the foundation and supporting soil and onto the piers. These work best in relatively soft soil and are typically used when we determine that the soil is unlikely to ever have the capacity to properly support your home.

Helical piers perform the same job but differently. They have threaded galvanized steel ends—they look very similar to a large screw—and are screwed into the earth to help support your home’s weight. These solutions are especially helpful because they do not have to be installed as far down as push piers.

Bowing Basement Walls

If you notice your basement walls have cracks or they’re bowing inward, it’s an issue you should address quickly. If the problem gets worse, your basement walls may be unable to properly support the weight of your home or resist hydrostatic pressure, so major damage can occur. If you’re worried about the stability of your basement walls, CLS can assist you with repair services for bowing walls in Omaha as well.
